In keeping with the spirit of the season, the Babcock Center Foundation proudly presents the 2020 “Official City Ornament.” This year’s ornament depicts 701 Whaley.
The streets of Columbia, SC were not paved until 1908, when 17 blocks of Main Street were surfaced. In 1934, the federal court house at Main and Laurel was purchased by the city for use as City Hall. Today, the Main Street District is a thriving city center, where Columbians and visitors alike, can enjoy live music, art, shopping and some of its most popular events like the Soda City Market and Columbia’s Famously Hot New Year celebration.
